Love and Duty on Beamer Street is the penultimate story in the Beamer Street series. Set in 1937, we follow the lives of Daisy, Bridie and Mara and there is never a dull moment. Daisy is awaiting the arrival of her first child, while Bridie returns from Ireland with a secret and Mara is a helping hand to those in need. She also has a difficult decision to make and the involvement of a Beamer Street tragedy that shakes the very core of the inhabitants, does not make her decision any easier.
The 5th of six novels set in the Liverpool docklands continues to follow the ups and downs of a close-knit community in the run up to WW2. But the inhabitants have other things to worry about than rumours of war.
However, dear readers, all is not doom or gloom. These characters meet adversary head on with that famous pragmatic Mersey humour, along with a ‘can-do’ spirit of a bygone age.
I am in the process of writing the final Beamer Street novel, which is never easy. Saying goodbye to people I have spent the past few years creating is difficult, but I am sure we have not heard the last of these characters who you, my wonderful readers, tell me you love so much.
You may be pleased to hear that I have signed a new six book series with my wonderful publisher at Boldwood Books, so I’d better get cracking and finish the final of the Beamer Street series – no matter how sorry I will be to do so.
Much love
Sheila xx
